Prepare Yourself
From The Desk Of Elliott Hulse:
Written on December 4, 2022
Today is a very special day…
It’s the second Sunday of Advent.
Advent is a time of preparation

A time of spiritual cleansing to prepare for the birth of our Lord.

So often throughout the year, we distract ourselves with things that we don’t need…

Like overindulging in food and material goods.
And what’s more…

These distractions can become even more pronounced during the holiday season….

Especially when we don’t have Christ at the center of our life.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the commercial side of Christmas and forget its true meaning.

Now don’t get me wrong… I’m not pointing the finger.

I’ve been there myself.

But as I’ve grown in faith over the last few years…

I now understand the significance of this advent season.
And so I am actively using this time to
let go of the things that are holding me back…
I invite you to do the same.

Instead of diversions and distractions

We can decide to purposely strip things away that don’t serve us.
Not simply for our own sake…
But so that we might welcome
Christ into our life.
Viva Christo Rey,
General E. Hulse
King's Militia
PS - I’d like to leave you with this prayer...
Dear Lord,

Send down Your Spirit to guide me during Advent this year.

May the Holy Spirit help me journey closer to You and lift me up when I feel down and lead me when I feel lost.

I may stumble at times, but I know my ultimate journey is to draw closer to You and build Your kingdom here on earth–a kingdom that Jesus’s birth, life and death helped secure.

Amen.
