That was my workout on Monday.

Not too much volume, not a ton of intensity.

Yet, I'm whooped!

The fact is that I haven't trained one lick since the end of May. That's almost 3 months without lifting a barbell, dumbbell, log or stone.

That may be the longest "break" from training I've ever taken, barring injuries.

Why haven't I been training?

Priorities my friend.

Juggling, shifting and recommitting to priorities.

When I was younger I believed I could do EVERYTHING right NOW.

Then I grew up.
I discovered that everything, EVERYTHING, happens in seasons.

That means there is a time for everything, but not everything can happen right now.

And that's okay.

I joyfully prioritized business over family and health for the last three months.

Does that mean my family and health are going to fall apart?

No.

Because the season to focus on them comes full circle.
Besides, I still walked about 3 miles every day. And have meals, have fun and have frequent meaningful conversations with my family.

It's like spinning plates.

Once a plate is spinning, you just need to give it a little pressure to keep it spinning. Unless you drop the plate, then you have to focus hard on it again.

Sometimes that's all you can do.

Don't drop the plate.

Just keep it spinning.

Anyway, I'm back in the gym...

So I'm feeling a little banged up, but that's not a problem.

It will only take me 3-4 weeks to get back into "shape" and then I'll start ramping up the intensity on my strongman lifts.

I'll be doing strongman stuff 1-2x per week, and I'll be doing one-set-to-failure bodybuilding 1x per week, following the "golden reps" training system.

My plan is to compete in my 2nd Masters Strongman Competition happening in Tampa FL in November (maybe I'll do a meet-up there if ya'll are interested in attending... lmk)

I'm also training my son. He and I will be doing the same type of workouts, just modified for his 12 year old body.

I'll be sure to keep you posted on my results and his. I may even be starting a new YouTube video series focused on my training... we'll see.
