I had a rough time trying to sleep last night.

I'm facing some big challenges in my business and life right now.

So my mind has been racing for days.

Even if it looks like old uncle E has it all together on the outside, I face struggles, doubts and insecurities too.

Anyway, I finally fell asleep around 2 am.

But I was up and off to the races again by 6:18 am.

After a short but intense moment of prayer, my day was thrust into full speed.

At 7:30am my new podcast producer and his camera crew showed up at the ranch to film some footage for the show's intro.

In less than 4 hours we filmed...
  • My son Benjamin and I training our protection dogs.
  • Bible reading, rosary praying and mediation on the dock.
  • Strongman training in my gym (stones, logs and kegs).
  • Colleen and our daughters cooking breakfast.
  • My whole family sitting down for a meal.
  • Working in my office:
  • On my computer
  • Filming an interview, and
  • Writing my goals
I can't wait to see what they make of it. I'll be sure to send you the final edit once complete.

Once they left I sat down to write you this briefing.

When I opened my email replays... there were two emails.
One, from a critical customer who thought it was important for him to share his opinion on how stupid, weak and wrong he thinks I am. As well as tossing his personal projections about my wife and children at me.

Honestly, I was pissed off!

I lost my cool for a minute.

I literally imagined punching this dude in his throat.

But before my blood could boil over...

I opened the second email...

Here is just a portion of what was written...
Dear Elliott,

I am an independent businessman that has literally built my business from a $10.00 bill. Last year we grossed 1.3 million. Not too bad from a one-man operation, working from his basement, with zero overhead.

I have been one of the lucky ones, Elliott.

Elliott, you have been inspiring me since the early days of "Yo Elliott" on YouTube! It is because of you that I could see a path forward when I began exploring ideas for independent entrepreneurship. Thanks to eBay and its selling format, I was able to start taking the beginning steps toward small business ownership.

Your constant "can do" messages were sometimes the deciding factor on if I should go out drinking with friends or continue working. Obviously, I chose the latter most times (thank you for that).

Elliott, I listened to you and began shedding friends that were not really friends.

I listened to you considering finding a life partner (my wife and I have been married for 18 years now and have 2 wonderful children).

I listened to you when I was exhausted and didn't think I could get to the gym (but I got there anyhow).

I listened to your message of optimism and I heard you, sir. Your message and mentorship are more important than you may imagine (not just to me but too many).

Elliott, I found an idea that I "built" for myself at first and soon began sharing it with others.

That idea coupled with your words and my drive has landed me where I am today:

- 100% debt free,
- with a wonderful and loving family,
- a beautiful home,
- cash in hand,
- a job I love,
- investments for my children,
- and soon a small hobby farm in my lower field (my latest life goal).

Elliott, your idea of sharing your thoughts with others has influenced my path more than you will ever know. Your life has been a beacon to many people, I am sure. You have not wasted a second of your journey and I feel privileged to share my story with you.

Thank you, Elliott; not only for what you have done for me but for what you continue to do for others every day.

You are the mentor more men need in their life - keep moving forward, Elliott!

This world needs more men like you.
Amazing Grace!

That pendulum swung, hard.

My mood, mindset and entire day changed on the dime.

Now, I realize its not good to allow myself to be affected by other peoples words.

For better or for worse.

But sometimes I can't help it.

Sometimes I am sensitive to the opinions of others and can be taken for a ride... especially when I'm under a lot of stress, like right now.

Anyway, I wanted to share this little bit of inspiration with you.

If you're having a bad day or things aren't going your way...

Remember there is always someone out there who loves you, appreciates you, and honors your honest efforts even when it seems like all is for naught.

Always seek the positive in every situation.

Never give up.

And remember to give God praise for the favor, gifts and grace He lavishes on you...

as well as when things suck...

because eventually...

the pendulum will swing back.

PS - If you're looking for a business opportunity that has the potential to make you into an "independent businessman" like the friendly emailer above... then be sure to read my daily briefing from yesterday.

If what you read sounds good, then take action.

No pressure though.

I'm only trying to help :)
